23 August 2025: Two new walks added!
Railway 200 is a nationwide celebration marking 200 years since the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway on 27 September 1825. In celebration and collaboration with FOGS (Friends of Goostrey Station) our group have devised and included two new walks (12 and 13) on this website. This gives anyone the opportunity to ‘let the train take the strain’ by using the train on either the outward or return journey.
As part of this celebration of 200 years of railway memories, we would appreciate it if you could make a small voluntary donation to the Alzheimer’s Society if you complete one or both walks. Feel free to send us photographs of your walk too for inclusion in our gallery. We hope you enjoy them!
05 July 2025: A new Goostrey footpath! The Sibelco Permissive Footpath has opened, linking New Platt Lane and Goostrey Lane (West). This creates another circular walk around Goostrey village and Twemlow Green.

Remember you can find local walks to enjoy on our Publications Page, where you will find a link to allow you to read and download our publication “More Goostrey Walks and Strolls Millennium Edition” and a further “Path North” leaflet.”
If you take any photos on your walks, please don’t forget to send them to:
